This flag is from the Adirondack Mountains and dates to the 1930s. It is made of muslin and was originally on a stick and served as a parade flag. It has 48-stars which is historically significant. A highly collectible piece of Americana that served as the official United States ensign for 47 years, from July 4 1912-July 3 1959. It is historically significant for being the flag flown during both World War I and World War II, as well as the Korean War. It was the second-longest-running flag design in U.S. history. It spanned the Great Depression and eight U.S. presidencies. This is the flag famously raised by Marines over Iwo Jima in 1945.
