Great Star

This flag is referred to as the “Great Star.” It features 38 stars in a star pattern. The 38th star commemorates the admission of Colorado to the Union on August 1, 1876. Because it gained statehood less than a month after America's 100th anniversary, Colorado became known as the “Centennial State.” This star count became official on July 4, 1877 and remained in use until July 3, 1890. This flag is a vintage reproduction from the 1970s. It has been preserved under UV protective glass and acid-free matting.
