St. George’s Cross

An English flag, the St. George’s Cross has deep, historic roots in America connected to its exploration and founding by the British, as well as being representative of the revolutionary period. It was flown on early exploration ships (including the Mayflower in 1620) and later incorporated into colonial New England flags. This flag is made of silk and some holes, fraying and patina. Dates to the 1920s. Preserved under UV-protective, reduced glare glass and acid-free matting. Frame is gold leaf with corner details. Measures 13 x 15 inches including the frame.
